In the USA were terminated trials with vaccine against HIV
U.S. authorities in the second half of April 2013 announced that further clinical testing of new experimental vaccine against HIV were halted. Previous results had shown that the new experimental vaccines does not protect against HIV .
The research program, which began in 2009, is an another unsuccessful trial of vaccine against HIV. The U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said that the study involved volunteers in 19 U.S. cities, gays and transsexuals who have sex with men. HVTN 505 vaccine was administered to 1250 volunteers, another 1244 test subjects received placebo. The Commission assessed the results of the 22nd April 2013 and recommended the suspension of the program. It has been found namely that in the vaccinated group 41 HIV infected people were found, while in the control placebo group it were 30 persons.
Syndrome AIDS appeared 30 years ago and it is estimated that 30 million people died. Currently, the world population is about 34 million HIV-positive people, of whom 10% are children.
